Context
Wheelz needed a full custom-built online car marketplace, not a standard brochure website or simple classified listing page.
The platform needed to allow users to create accounts as either buyers or sellers, with sellers able to list cars for sale directly through the website.
The commercial model required listing payments to be handled online. Sellers pay to list a car for sale, with the payment collected through the website as part of the sign-up and listing process. The vehicle sale itself is then handled offline between buyer and seller.
The project also required a detailed vehicle discovery system. Buyers needed to filter listings across a wide range of car-specific criteria, save searches, favourite cars and share listings from within the website.
The filtering interface included 21 filter sections, 233 visible selectable filter options, 6 numeric range fields and 3 internal search fields in the supplied filter structure. This made the project a much more complex custom marketplace build than a normal business website.
